Scribo Terms of Use

Effective · October 1, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Dain Jung, the independent developer who makes Scribo ("we"). They cover the Scribo apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and the website at scribo.cc. By using Scribo you agree to them. They are written to be read, so please do.

1. What Scribo is

Scribo helps you learn a language through things you want to read. It rewrites readings at your level, explains words and passages, checks the answers you give, schedules reviews, and estimates your level and learning habits from how you use it. Some features need an internet connection, and some need Scribo Pro.

2. Who can use Scribo

Scribo is meant for people 14 and older. Anyone younger should use it with a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on their behalf.

3. Your account

Some features need you to sign in with Apple. Keep your Apple account secure, because anything done through your account is treated as done by you. You can delete your account at any time in Settings. What happens to your data when you do is described in the Privacy Policy.

4. What you bring and what you write

What you write in Scribo, such as your answers, sentences and notes, stays yours. To make a reading, answer a question or check an answer, Scribo sends the text involved to our server and to the AI model we use, as the Privacy Policy describes. You allow us to process it only to provide Scribo to you.

Only bring in things you have the right to read. A reading Scribo makes is for your own learning. Please don't publish or sell it, and don't use Scribo to copy someone else's work.

5. AI makes mistakes

Meanings, examples, readings, feedback, levels and personas are generated automatically, and they can be wrong or incomplete. Use them to learn, and don't rely on them where a mistake would matter, such as medical, legal or financial decisions. Your level in Scribo is an estimate made for learning, not a certificate.

6. Scribo Pro and payment

Scribo Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly. Wherever you buy it, it belongs to the account you sign in with, and it opens on every iPhone, iPad and Mac signed in to that account.

Bought on iPhone or iPad (App Store). Apple charges your Apple account, and the subscription renews automatically unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel it in your Apple account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies.

Bought on the Mac (web checkout). You pay on RevenueCat's checkout page, and Stripe processes the payment. You're first charged when the subscription starts (or when the free trial ends, if it has one), then automatically at the start of each period with the same payment method. The checkout page and the receipt email show the next charge date and amount. You can cancel any time in Scribo for Mac by clicking Manage subscription in Settings, or from the link in the receipt email, and Pro stays on until the end of the period you've paid for. Cancel during a free trial and you aren't charged. Payments already made aren't refunded, for monthly and yearly plans alike. Where the law of the country you live in gives you a right to withdraw or to a refund, we follow it, and if you were charged twice or by mistake, write to us at the address under Contact and we'll check and refund it.

Deleting the app or your Scribo account doesn't cancel a subscription.

What the free plan includes is shown in the app, and we may change it.

If you got Scribo from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app. Where it and these terms cover the same thing, Apple's agreement governs the license to the app itself.

7. Fair use

Please don't use Scribo to break the law or to harm anyone. Don't try to reach other people's data, disrupt the service, get around its limits, or send automated requests to it. Don't copy, resell or reverse engineer Scribo, except where the law allows it.

8. Ours and others'

The Scribo apps, this website, their design, the dinosaur, and the text we wrote belong to us. Pages you bring in, videos played through YouTube's player, dictionaries you open, and services such as Apple's and Google's are run by others under their own terms, and we're not responsible for their content.

9. Changes

Scribo is still growing, so features will change and some may be removed. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app or on this page before the change takes effect. Using Scribo after that means you accept the new terms.

10. Ending

You can stop using Scribo at any time and delete your account in Settings. If someone seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, we may suspend or close their account.

11. Responsibility

We work to keep Scribo accurate and available, but we provide it as it is, without promising that it will be free of errors or always available. To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect or consequential losses, and our total responsibility is limited to what you paid for Scribo in the 12 months before the problem. None of this limits our responsibility for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, or any right you have under consumer law that can't be waived.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. A dispute that can't be settled by talking it through goes to the court with jurisdiction under Korea's Civil Procedure Act. If you live in another country, you keep the protections its consumer law gives you.
